Geraldine Morillo Barazarte is a freelance flutists and teacher located in the Central Florida area. She earned a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Stetson University (Deland, FL), cum laude, where she studied under the tutelage of Dr. Jean West and Susan McQuinn. Following her graduation from Stetson, Geraldine moved to the Boston area and took extended studies with Sarah Brady from the Boston Conservatory. She has also studied with Marco Granados, Walfrid Kujala, Nora Lee-Garcia, and Sylvia Franklin. Additionally, Geraldine has participated in festivals and masterclasses including the Duxbury Music Festival, the Orchestral Excerpts masterclass by Walfrid Kujala, special masterclasses with Geralyn Coticone  at the Boston Flute Academy and the Trevor Wye masterclass in Boston, MA.

Mrs. Barazarte is an experienced Orchestral, Wind Ensemble and chamber musician. She is currently the Assistant Principal flute and Piccolo at The Villages Philharmonic Orchestra and has joined the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra in concert as substitute flutist. She is also a member of the Southern Winds  and prior to her move back to Florida she held the principal flute position for the  Nashua Chamber Orchestra  (2015-2017) and piccolo chair for the Metropolitan Wind Symphony (2007-2012). Additionally, she has performed at past National Flute Association Conventions during exhibitor showcases and recitals representing Nagahara Flutes, a world renown maker of professional-level flutes where she also worked for eleven years as Office Manager and Sales/Marketing Associate (2007-2018).

A native from Caracas, Venezuela, Mrs. Barazarte  greatly enjoys sharing the music of her homeland with audiences in the USA.  In 2010, she and her husband Javier Barazarte (Harp) co-founded "Sabana & Talento", a traditional Venezuelan Folk Music ensemble with a modern twist. With this ensemble she has performed in festivals, venues and private parties throughout the Greater Boston area and Central Florida in collaboration with renown musicians such as Fran Vielma (Percussion), Eduardo Betancourt (Harp), Nicolas Castañeda (Harp), Carlos Capacho (Cuatro), Carlos Sulbaran (Bass, Maracas and Cuatro), among others. She has also recorded for Venezuelan artist Juan Carlos Salazar and Colombian flutist/composer Carmen Liliana Marulanda.

Geraldine is a passionate educator and a student-centered teacher with over twenty years of experience. She enjoys working with young musicians as private instructor, ensemble coach and classroom music teacher. While living in the Greater Boston area her students successfully placed into District bands and were accepted into prestigious youth ensembles such as the New England Conservatory Youth Orchestra. She directed the NEYWE Flute choir at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell Campus and was one of two candidates selected to participate in the Teacher Training course at the prestigious Boston Flute Academy  under the tutelage of Judy Grant, where she assisted coaching ensembles and masterclasses. Geraldine is also Certified as a K-12 Music Teacher in the State of Florida and has also completed Levels I and II of the Orff Schulwerk Teacher training  courses through a special scholarship provided by Orange County Public Schools, Orlando, FL. Currently she is the General Music Teacher at the Windy Ridge K-8 school where she also leads an after school Chorus and Orff Ensemble.

Mrs. Barazarte relocated from Massachusetts back to Florida in 2018 and currently lives in Clermont, FL  with her husband and three sons.
